Polish President Andrzej Duda welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Warsaw. The leaders met at Belweder Palace, where President Duda expressed his pleasure at hosting Steinmeier once again in Poland. Accompanying President Duda were Minister Wojciech Kolarski, Chief of the Chancellery of the President of Poland (BPM) Mieszko Pawlak, Chief of the National Security Bureau (BBN) Jacek Siewiera, and Presidential Advisor Wojciech Gerwel.
Commemorating the Wola Massacre
At 10:30 AM, both presidents took part in a ceremony to honor the victims of the Wola Massacre, a tragic event during the Warsaw Uprising. The previous day, Duda and Steinmeier participated in a solemn mass and the ceremonial Roll Call of the Fallen, marking the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.
President Duda highlighted the profound significance of the Warsaw Uprising for both the residents of Warsaw and the entire Polish nation. “This is a focal point for all of Poland; people come from all corners to pay tribute to those who perished in the fight,” Duda stated during their meeting at Belweder Palace.
