In a thrilling final of the 500m short track event at the IV Youth Winter Olympics, Poland’s Anna Falkowska clinched the coveted gold medal. The Polish athletes had already shown promise in the semifinals, with Falkowska advancing with the best time and Kornelia Woźniak securing a spot in the final with the third-best time.

Both athletes made an impressive start in the decisive race, leading for the majority of the distance. Unfortunately, Woźniak stumbled in the last meters, forfeiting a podium finish to her South Korean rival. Falkowska, however, maintained her composure and crossed the finish line first, securing Poland’s inaugural gold in Gangwon.

This marked the second medal for Poland at the event, following ski jumper Łukasz Łukaszczyk’s bronze in the individual competition on the normal hill. The Polish delegation continues to make its mark on the global stage, showcasing the country’s prowess in winter sports.
