In the Slovak center of Brezno-Osrblie, the roller skiing biathlon junior world championships witnessed exceptional performances from Polish athletes. Jan Guńka stood out by claiming the gold medal in the supersprint event, despite four shooting errors. He managed to outpace Ukrainian Serhij Suprun by nearly 10 seconds, who faltered three times. The bronze medal went to Croatia’s Matija Legovic. Konrad Badacz finished in sixth place.

March of this year saw Guńka secure the title of junior world vice-champion. Two years earlier, he had won bronze in the sprint and gold in the relay. He also holds a bronze medal from the junior European championships in pursuit.

Among the women, Anna Nędza-Kubiniec secured the fifth spot, while Barbara Skrobiszewska finished eighth. Emilia Zasadna and Zuzanna Sadownik progressed to the finals as well. The competition culminated with Bulgaria’s Lora Hristova claiming victory, followed by Ukrainians Ołeksandra Merkuszyna and Ołena Horodna. Nędza-Kubiniec missed the podium by just over half a minute.

The competitions in Slovakia, which also include senior athletes, will run until Sunday.
