Polish Forces Identify Suspect in Fatal Border Guard Attack

Polish authorities have identified the individual responsible for the death of 21-year-old Sergeant Mateusz Sitek from the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade. The soldier was fatally wounded while guarding the Polish-Belarusian border. The attack occurred on May 28 near Dubicze Cerkiewne in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

    Suspect Identified

The attacker has been identified as a man from the Middle East. Despite extensive search efforts, he is believed to remain in Belarus and might be planning to escape to Syria. The identification was achieved through analysis of footage from the incident and the interrogation of migrants who had crossed into Poland.

Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz assured that Polish law enforcement agencies will continue their search until the attacker is apprehended. Polish special services have been working intensively, utilizing informants within migrant groups in Belarus to gather accurate information on the suspect.

    Footage Analysis and Informant Use

The suspect was identified through careful examination of the attack recordings and weeks of questioning migrants who entered Poland. This collaborative effort allowed authorities to pinpoint the man who used a knife attached to a stick to fatally wound Sergeant Sitek during a border breach. The investigation continues as Poland seeks justice for the fallen soldier.
