Polish judokas excel at the World Cadet Championships, winning six medals and showing promise for future Olympic success.

Polish judokas returned from the World Cadet Judo Championships in Lima with an impressive haul of six medals: one gold, one silver, and four bronze. The young athletes’ success has brought hope and excitement to Polish judo.

    Outstanding Performances

Seventeen-year-old Zuzanna Banaszewska, competing in the +70 kg category, won the gold medal. Her victory adds to her earlier European Championship title this year, marking a remarkable achievement for the Lemur Warszawa club member. “I fulfilled my goal and dreams set for this year. I hope to stay at the top into the senior ranks,” said Banaszewska, who is also eyeing the Los Angeles Olympics.

    Building for the Future

The team also saw a silver medal from Hanna Zaitseva (63 kg) and bronze medals from Sandra Walendzik, Barbara Twarowska, Amelia Ptasińska, and Jakub Kurowski. National team coach Tomasz Jopek and PZJ President Jacek Zawadka credit the success to strong coaching and a robust training system. The focus now is on future competitions, including the European U23 Championships in Piła this November.
