Poland’s meat industry is rapidly expanding into Asia, capitalizing on the region’s growing demand for high-quality meat. The Ministry of Agriculture has successfully opened access to markets in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore while advancing negotiations with China and South Korea. This effort was highlighted during the conference, “Polish Meat Industry’s Game for Asia: Will We Seize Success?”, held in Warsaw on December 6, 2024.
Success in Export Agreements
Undersecretary of State Jacek Czerniak emphasized Poland’s strengths in meat production, with poultry and beef leading exports. The Philippines now import Polish poultry, while Vietnam and Singapore have opened their markets to beef, duck, and goose products. Improved conditions for pork exports to Singapore further boost Poland’s presence.
Strategic Goals and Future Prospects
Poland aims to resume poultry exports to China and expand beef and poultry shipments to China and South Korea. Diplomatic missions and interministerial meetings are key tools in achieving these goals. However, the Ministry remains cautious about EU trade agreements that could jeopardize local exports by allowing cheaper imports from Mercosur countries.
A Growing Contribution to Exports
Polish meat exports reached €6 billion in the first nine months of 2024, underscoring their significance to the national economy. With surplus production in poultry and beef, exploring Asian markets is vital to sustaining growth and profitability while maintaining Poland’s high production standards.
