Poland’s Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, has extended his heartfelt condolences to Morocco following a devastating earthquake that struck the country late on Friday, claiming the lives of over 800 individuals.
In response to the tragic news from Morocco, Morawiecki expressed his condolences, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the earthquake that has already claimed the lives of hundreds of people. The magnitude of this terrible catastrophe is beyond words. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims.” The Polish Prime Minister shared his sentiments on Saturday morning.
According to the Moroccan Interior Ministry’s report on Saturday, the earthquake, which occurred near Marrakech in Al-Haouz province, resulted in the tragic loss of approximately 820 lives, with nearly 700 individuals sustaining injuries.
Discrepancies in magnitude assessments have emerged, with Morocco’s geophysical center estimating the earthquake’s magnitude at 7.2, while the US Geological Survey reported it as 6.8. The earthquake’s depth was measured at 18.5 kilometers. This seismic event has left Morocco and the international community grappling with the devastating consequences of this natural disaster.
