Polish Ultracyclist Aims to Break Record on Public Bike

Krzysztof Fechner, a renowned ultracyclist from Zielona Góra, will attempt to break the Polish record for non-stop cycling on a public bike. Starting on August 23, he aims to ride 1008 km in 70 hours on a Nextbike city bike during the prestigious Bałtyk-Bieszczady Tour.

    Nextbike Collaboration

Nextbike representatives handed over the bike to Fechner, emphasizing their commitment to promoting public transportation alternatives. The bike, slightly modified but still weighing around 18 kg, will be tested for its durability throughout the challenging journey.

    Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles

Fechner’s motivation stems from personal experiences, including his son’s battle with diabetes. He hopes his record attempt will inspire others to adopt healthier, more sustainable transport habits and discover the adventure in everyday cycling.

    Promoting Public Bikes

The Bałtyk-Bieszczady Tour will traverse approximately 200 towns, showcasing the potential of public bikes in reducing transport exclusion, especially in smaller communities. Nextbike continues to expand, with significant developments like the Metrorower system in Upper Silesia, highlighting the growth and importance of public bike systems.
