Porsche Tennis: Swiatek in the final after 18 minutes

    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek has secured her spot in the final of the WTA tournament in Stuttgart following a swift victory over Ons Jabeur on Saturday afternoon. The 18-minute match saw Swiatek take the win with only three games played, as Jabeur was forced to retire due to injury.

The match itself started very well for Iga. She was already winning 1-0 in games early on, but the match had to be stopped. The Tunisian asked for a medical break due to an ankle injury. After a short break, the game was resumed, but unfortunately, after two more games won by Iga, Jabeur had to ask for a break again. This time she did not return to the court again.

Ons Jabeur ended the semi-final encounter after 18 minutes of battle due to injury. Thus, Iga won and advanced to the final, where she will face Aryna Sabalenka.

“Iga Świątek – Aryna Sabalenka in the final of WTA 500 in Stuttgart! Ons Jabeur retired at 0:3 in the 1st set due to injury – wish you a speedy recovery, Ons 💔 Final on Sunday at 13:00 CET. It will be the 1st match between Iga and Aryna in 2023,”
