Polish President Andrzej Duda has arrived in the United Arab Emirates to participate in the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai. During the summit, Duda is set to emphasize the need for a just energy transition and highlight the significance of nuclear energy.
Global Climate Review and Goals
COP28, commencing on Thursday, marks the annual assessment of actions taken to address climate change under the Paris Agreement. With nearly 200 delegations present, the conference aims to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C compared to the pre-industrial era.
While global leaders such as France’s Emmanuel Macron and the UK’s Rishi Sunak are expected, notable absentees include U.S. President Joe Biden and China’s Xi Jinping. President Duda’s focus on nuclear energy aligns with Poland’s commitment to triple global nuclear energy production by 2050.
