President Duda: My Questions Upset the Prime Minister. Is It Because He Has to Execute Berlin’s “Secret Plan”?

According to the latest media reports, Germany’s incoming Chancellor Friedrich Merz is working with neighboring countries—including Prime Minister Tusk’s government—on a “secret plan” aimed at rejecting asylum seekers at the border. But that’s not all. The head of the Christian Democrats (CDU) is also calling for migrants to be returned beyond Germany’s borders without the consent of neighboring countries. President Andrzej Duda is sounding the alarm.

“Prime Minister Tusk has recently taken to boasting about border protection. But only the eastern border—the one we fortified earlier despite his protests and attacks from Civic Platform (PO) politicians. Now, my written questions regarding the western border and the threat of illegal migrants being brought into Poland from Germany have greatly upset the prime minister. Is it because he’s obliged to implement Berlin’s ‘secret plan’ that even the German media are reporting on?” President Andrzej Duda asked on social media.

The plan in question allegedly aims to solve Germany’s migrant problems at the expense of other nations. But what exactly does this plan entail?

The “Secret Plan” Is Already in Motion

As revealed by Die Welt, CDU leader Friedrich Merz wants to return migrants without securing neighboring countries’ approval. But there’s more. Part of this plan, according to the German daily, includes measures already enacted by Donald Tusk’s government—namely, the temporary limitation on the ability to file asylum claims at the Belarusian border.

In the newspaper’s analysis, the Polish government’s move to “temporarily suspend the right to asylum” is, in effect, a response tailored to meet German needs and objectives.

“CDU leader Friedrich Merz is apparently working with neighboring countries on a ‘secret plan’ aimed at rejecting asylum seekers at the border,” Die Welt reports.

A Blow to Poland’s Interests

Alongside President Duda, Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk also raised concerns:

“Extremely troubling! According to the latest media reports, Germany’s future chancellor Friedrich Merz is cooperating with neighboring countries—including Poland—on a ‘secret plan’ concerning the readmission of migrants. The ordinance introduced yesterday by Tusk is being presented as part of an action plan to facilitate readmissions!” the politician wrote.
