President-Elect Names Key Figures to Head National Security Bureau

Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, Gen. Andrzej Kowalski, and Gen. Mirosław Bryś will take the helm of the National Security Bureau (BBN) following the inauguration of Karol Nawrocki as President of Poland.

President-elect Karol Nawrocki, who will also become Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces upon his swearing-in, announced the leadership of the BBN during a press conference.

The new head of the Bureau will be historian Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, a prolific author and chairman of the Liquidation Commission of the Military Information Services (WSI).

His deputies will be Gen. Andrzej Kowalski—former head of both the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Military Intelligence Service—and Gen. Mirosław Bryś, who previously served as deputy commander of the 6th Airborne Brigade, commander of the 4th Warmian-Masurian Territorial Defense Brigade, and head of the Central Military Recruitment Center.

These are the latest names among President Nawrocki’s team. After the inauguration on August 6, Paweł Szefernaker is set to become head of the President’s Cabinet. Marcin Przydacz will return to the Presidential Palace to head the Bureau of International Policy. Dr. Rafał Leśkiewicz will serve as the President’s spokesperson.
