Domostawa is a town located near Janów Lubelski. While traveling to meet with the residents of the Lublin Region, the President took a short detour. Karol Nawrocki laid a wreath at the “Volhynia Massacre” monument, which had recently been vandalized. The head of state posted a poignant message on social media.
Exactly 10 days ago, the day after the inauguration of Karol Nawrocki’s presidency in Domostawa in Subcarpathia, the “Volhynia Massacre” monument was vandalized.
At the base of the monument, created by Andrzej Pityński, a red-and-black flag was painted, along with the Cyrillic inscription “Glory to the UPA”. The red-and-black flag was used, among others, by the OUN-B/UPA. In connection with the vandalism, the police detained a 17-year-old Ukrainian citizen.
“Law and duty”
The President’s Office had announced that Karol Nawrocki was to meet with the residents of the Lublin Region during two gatherings. A bit further along the road stands the monument. On the platform X, a photo appeared showing the President laying a wreath at the monument.
Karol Nawrocki captioned it: “It is our right and duty to cherish the memory of the Victims of the genocide in Volhynia.”
