What is most important today is solidarity, the unity of people who love Poland, Polish patriots, so that we gather around the Presidential Palace, the president, and the values that matter to us. What we need least are quarrels within patriotic circles and rivalry. Let us stay together, move forward stronger and determined toward the Poland of our dreams – a strong, safe Poland that remains truly Polish,” said President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki today during the 21st Convention of Gazeta Polska Clubs.
Before noon, President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki arrived in Sulejów for the 21st Convention of Gazeta Polska Clubs.
The head of state took part in a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by the presidential chaplain, Fr. Prof. Jarosław Wąsowicz SDB.
He then delivered a short speech to the club members gathered in Sulejów.
“The most important decisions are made by the president”
At the outset, he recalled that he had participated in Gazeta Polska Club conventions even as director of the Museum of the Second World War and as president of the Institute of National Remembrance.
“For me, the convention has always been very important in my calendar, no matter what public office I held. That has not changed after becoming President of the Republic of Poland. Only tomorrow am I flying to Turkey for a meeting with the president, and I wanted to spend this Sunday with you – and that has not changed,” said Karol Nawrocki.
Referring to earlier remarks by the CEO of TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz, about the role of journalists in mobilizing state authorities through public debate, the president said this was “the essence.”
“We have heard so much in recent years about defenders of democracy and about democracy, and we truly are democrats. The President of Poland cannot take offense at any criticism, but TV Republika and all other television stations in Poland must see that the most important decisions are made by the President of the Republic of Poland, not by any television station. That is who you elected. I always thank you for every kind word and every piece of constructive criticism, but I take full responsibility, because I represent you – my beloved Poles, women and men. That is who you chose, and that is who I intend to remain for the next five years,” the president declared.
He thanked those gathered for their joint prayer during the Holy Mass.
“Today I stand on this stage for the first time as President of Poland to thank you for always being with me, for always listening to your voice, for confronting many ideas and sometimes constructive criticism,” he emphasized. Karol Nawrocki pointed out that club members had been with him when he was an ordinary employee of the Institute of National Remembrance, director of the Museum of the Second World War, and president of the Institute.
“When the presidential elections took place, clubs across Poland organized and co-organized meetings because you believed this would be a President of Poland who would say with every decision, ‘Poland first, Poles first.’ (…) When I became a candidate, you supported me, and when I became president-elect, I was with you as president-elect, and on August 6 you were with me at the swearing-in ceremony – and for that I thank you,” said President Nawrocki.
“Support the president in implementing the project”
The president indicated that “there are more important tasks ahead of us.”
“A new struggle is beginning; we cannot slow down for even a second, and I will not slow down as President of the Republic of Poland. And the 21st convention directly recalls what we campaigned on. 10.5 million citizens of the Republic of Poland voted for Plan 21 – a concrete plan for a normal Poland, an ambitious Poland, a Poland that must remain Poland, rooted in values yet modern, as required by future generations. A Poland with its own currency, that cares for its language, culture, and identity. All of this is included in Plan 21, and we are at the 21st convention,” noted Karol Nawrocki.
“We are after prayer and it is a holy day, so I will not say whose fault it is that this has not been implemented, and I do not want to start that topic on a Sunday. But I want to say that legislative initiatives are waiting in the Polish Sejm that are meant to make Poland stronger, more resilient, and safer – and these initiatives have not been implemented. Only the law concerning the Polish countryside has been passed. The rest are waiting. What is our task? For the parliamentary majority to understand that we in Poland are deeply committed to democracy – so if there is a plan, a president, and legislative initiatives, they should at least be discussed in the Polish Sejm, not blocked out of fear by someone – I will not name names. Have a nice Sunday, Mr. Speaker,” he added.
He appealed for support for the President of the Republic of Poland in implementing the plan with which he ran in the 2025 election and which was supported by 10.5 million voters.
“We must be consistent in implementing this, and if it cannot be done with this parliamentary majority, then we must ensure there is a majority that will support the president in building a strong and responsible Poland,” the president emphasized.
The wisdom of Poles saved alliances
Karol Nawrocki thanked “for the wisdom of the nation.”
“We all realize how much we saved Poland on June 1 [2025, the date of the second round of the presidential election]. We also saved our international relations, including with our most important strategic partner – the United States. This was directly the result of the wisdom of the Polish nation in making its choice on June 1. This is our strategic military and economic partner. We cooperate with many other partners – Poland has many partners and allies – but relations with the United States were genuinely at risk. (…) We managed to ensure that American soldiers, who co-guarantee our security, are present; that Poland is in the G20 following President Trump’s invitation to President Nawrocki; and many other things. We saved our international relations – thank you, nation,” he said.
He emphasized that solidarity is the most important thing today.
“What is most important today is solidarity, the unity of people who love Poland, Polish patriots, so that we gather around the Presidential Palace, the president, and the values that matter to us. What we need least are quarrels within patriotic circles and rivalry. Let us stay together, move forward stronger and determined toward the Poland of our dreams – a strong, safe Poland that remains truly Polish,” added President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki.
