On Thursday, a meeting was held at the Presidential Palace between President Karol Nawrocki and the Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Minister–Coordinator of Special Services, Tomasz Siemoniak, as well as the heads of the intelligence services.
The meeting was attended, among others, by the heads of four intelligence services—two civilian agencies, the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the Foreign Intelligence Agency (AW), and two military services, the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) and the Military Intelligence Service (SWW).
“During the meeting between President Karol Nawrocki, the ministers, and the heads of the services, it was agreed that meetings with the leadership of the intelligence services will take place on a regular basis,” said presidential spokesperson Rafał Leśkiewicz. He added that the president is also to receive information on matters of internal and external security more frequently.
Speaking at a briefing, Leśkiewicz said that the meeting with Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Special Services Coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak, and the heads of the intelligence services was constructive and substantive. He stressed that the matters discussed were covered by confidentiality clauses.
“The President received reports presented by the four heads of the services concerning the most important issues related to the security of the Republic of Poland—above all, the identification of threats to state security and the security of citizens,” the spokesperson said. He added that the talks also addressed the condition of Poland’s intelligence services and cooperation with the intelligence services of other countries.
