The Presidential Palace hosted the 1st Presidential Congress of Youth Councils, an educational programme organised by the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland in cooperation with the Youth Council to the President of the Republic of Poland. The event brought together young activists from across Poland – representatives of youth councils from municipalities, counties and regional assemblies. In his speech, President Karol Nawrocki addressed strong words of appreciation to the participants.
The 1st Presidential Congress of Youth Councils is a new educational initiative organised by the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland in cooperation with the Youth Council to the President of the Republic of Poland. The programme is aimed at active young citizens from municipal, county and regional youth councils – people who, already at a young age, choose to engage in public affairs at the local and regional level.
The event was particularly significant, both because of the prestige of the venue (the Presidential Palace) and the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland, who personally met with the participants. In his speech, President Karol Nawrocki emphasised that the voice of young people has been extremely important to him for years.
“I thank you for being here and for taking responsibility for your local communities, for your municipalities, your towns, and your regions”, the President said, addressing the participants of the meeting.
The President stressed that meetings with young activists are, for him, a time dedicated to thinking about the country’s future. “I am deeply aware that today, in this room, there are people who will take full responsibility for our homeland in the next decade, in the next two decades. Therefore, every investment in time spent with you is time devoted to the future of Poland”, said Karol Nawrocki.
President Nawrocki also noted that the voice of young people is not only a subject for occasional events or competitions, but also reflects a deeper reflection on the continuity of the Polish state. – Because you are exceptional, you are young, you could find many other things to do, yet you devote a significant part of your lives to solving the problems of your local communities – he said.
At the climax of his speech, the President addressed the participants with particularly strong words.
“This is beautiful, this is bold, this is important, this is necessary for Poland, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because you are the elite that will take responsibility for our great homeland”, said Karol Nawrocki.
