“A new reality, but the methods are still the same,” this is how President Karol Nawrocki commented on an article by Gazeta Wyborcza journalist Wojciech Czuchnowski, in which sensitive medical data concerning the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, were disclosed.
Wojciech Czuchnowski, a journalist with Gazeta Wyborcza, published an article about Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the National Security Bureau, citing an “anonymous source.” The publication revealed strictly classified, sensitive medical information taken from a security questionnaire. Col. Artur Hejne, a retired officer of the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW), stated on TV Republika that the leak must have originated within the SKW.
The situation has sparked outrage not only among politicians from across the political spectrum, but also among the legal and medical communities, which have also voiced strong objections, pointing to the scandalous circumstances surrounding the attack on Sławomir Cenckiewicz.
President Karol Nawrocki also commented on the matter, himself the target of harsh attacks during the election campaign.
“A new reality, but the methods are still the same. This time aimed not at me, but at my Minister,” the President wrote on X.com.
In connection with the disclosure of classified data concerning Prof. Cenckiewicz, the prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation. The head of the National Security Bureau has announced that he will pursue civil and legal action against the author of the article, as well as against the leadership of the Military Counterintelligence Service.
