“The decision of the President of the Republic of Poland is proof that the voice of doctors in Poland is being heard,” stated the President of the Supreme Medical Chamber (NIL), commenting on Karol Nawrocki’s veto regarding the amendment to the Act on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine. The amendment concerned, among other things, the extension of the conditional right to practice medicine for Ukrainian doctors.
On Monday, the President announced his veto of the amendment to the Act on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine, which included provisions related to the conditional practice of medicine by Ukrainian doctors.
The President of the Supreme Medical Chamber (NIL) spoke approvingly of the President’s decision, reminding that this was precisely the outcome the Chamber had been advocating for.
“Two weeks ago, we appealed to the President to veto the so-called ‘Ukrainian Act’ because extending the conditional right to practice the profession exposes our patients to the risk of loss of life or health,”
the Chamber stated.
Nawrocki Hears the Voice of Doctors
Jankowski added that “the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland is proof that the voice of doctors in Poland is heard.” “From the very beginning, we have emphasized that patient safety must always take precedence over ad-hoc political solutions,” he declared.
“The veto shows that joint and consistent pressure makes sense,”
he added.
In addition to vetoing the amendment to the Act on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine, on Monday, the President also announced two other vetoes: the amendment to the Fiscal Penal Code and the Tax Ordinance Act, as well as the amendment of certain acts aimed at deregulation in the energy sector.
