In Romania, a presidential candidate was arrested just minutes before being formally nominated. This event has sparked discussions about whether Poland could face a similar situation, especially in the context of the upcoming May presidential elections. The topic was explored in the program “Miłosz Kłeczek Zaprasza.”
Attack by the Left-Wing Cartel
In Romania, right-wing candidate Calin Georgescu, who currently holds over 40% support in polls, is being targeted by the ruling left-liberal cartel. Maciej Małecki from Law and Justice (PiS) drew parallels between the situations in Romania and Poland.
He recalled that in Romania, the elections were annulled after the right-wing candidate won. The Venice Commission found no irregularities, and Russian connections were not confirmed. For the left-liberal elites, the Romanian elections are a test for democratic elections across Europe. Małecki emphasized that in Poland, the current government will stop at nothing, having already removed two MPs from the Presidential Palace and detained MP Romanowski, who had immunity at the time. He believes that what is happening in Romania is entirely controlled by EU elites.
Interference in Polish Elections
Marek Szewczyk from the Confederation party highlighted that Russia interfered in Poland’s parliamentary election campaign.
In Romania, the court annulled the elections solely because someone allegedly interfered on social media. Szewczyk pointed out that the smear campaign with eight stars in Poland was sponsored by Russian services. He also mentioned the anti-right-wing campaign on Trzaskowski’s campus, noting Russian influences in Poland and attacks on right-wing parties. He expects an amnesty law to be passed soon, which would legalize the current government’s actions and ensure impunity for today’s ruling politicians.
