Polish presidential elections 2025 likely in May. Szymon Hołownia excludes May 4; date to be announced January 8.
Spring Elections Likely in May
The 2025 Polish presidential elections are expected to take place this spring, with May being the likely month. Szymon Hołownia, the Speaker of the Sejm, announced he would disclose the date for the first round of voting on January 8. The formal decision will be finalized on January 15 after consultations with electoral officials.
May 4 Ruled Out
Hołownia has already excluded May 4 as a potential date, stating that it would be impractical due to the May Day holiday weekend. Sundays in May still under consideration include May 11, 18, and 25.
The presidential race features notable candidates, including Rafał Trzaskowski, Szymon Hołownia, Karol Nawrocki, Sławomir Mentzen, Magdalena Biejat, and Marek Jakubiak.
Campaign Awaiting Official Start
With the date announcement imminent, the Speaker emphasized the importance of clarity for the candidates and voters. “I hope this will be published soon so that the campaign can officially begin,” Hołownia remarked.
