During yesterday’s meeting between President Karol Nawrocki and former President Andrzej Duda, a wide range of issues was discussed. “Poland’s interest lies in good relations with the United States, but we must also pursue a policy of pragmatic relations within the EU. In this regard, I am continuing the line of my predecessor. The invitation to the G20 was a direct invitation from the President of the United States to the President of the Republic of Poland. This is a great success for Poles!” said Karol Nawrocki.
At the Belweder Palace, Karol Nawrocki and Andrzej Duda discussed presidential election campaigns, cooperation with the United States and Donald Trump, governance under conditions of cohabitation, NATO, command over the Armed Forces, and the exercise of the office of President of the Republic of Poland.
“I always hear in my conversations with Donald Trump that Poland is the most important ally on NATO’s eastern flank. We have defended the achievements of the previous President and government,”
President Nawrocki emphasized.
Referring to relations with the United States and President Donald Trump, Karol Nawrocki stressed that he views Polish-American relations in a highly pragmatic manner and from the perspective of the interests of the Polish state.
He pointed out that these relations are fundamental because they are based on the same system of values – commitment to independence, sovereignty, and democracy.
“Naturally, regardless of which administration governs in the United States, it is in Poland’s interest to build strong relations with the United States,”
he emphasized, adding that President Duda was able to build such relations.
A significant portion of the conversation was devoted to the Speaker of the Sejm, former member of the communist Polish United Workers’ Party (PZPR), Włodzimierz Czarzasty.
President Karol Nawrocki spoke sharply about Speaker Czarzasty’s stance, pointing to the absurdity of the current political arrangement. The President drew attention to the disparity between actual public support and the position held by one of the leaders of the Left.
“Here is a man, not only a post-communist, with the support of 20,000 votes, speaking to a man who received 10.5 million votes in the election, saying that he will make use of a veto that he does not have,”
President Nawrocki said, referring to the dispute with Speaker Czarzasty.
As Karol Nawrocki emphasized, “today the second most important person in the state is a post-communist, that is, a person who received 20,000 votes in the election,” the President stressed.
Recalling his convention in Łódź, Karol Nawrocki emphasized that from the very beginning of the campaign, he was convinced that he had the strong support of President Duda.
“The very appearance of President Duda at that convention was extremely important. For the United Right and for the conservative community, it was an event that showed we are ready to unite around certain ideas and our candidate, who at that time was me, regardless of certain differences,”
he said.
However, the main theme of the meeting at the Presidential Palace was the book by the former president, “That Was Me,” by Andrzej Duda.
