Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences Urges Acceleration of Natural History Museum Creation in Warsaw

In a statement issued on December 12th, the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) directed a fervent appeal to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Ministry of Science, the City of Warsaw, and other decision-making entities for the expedited establishment of the Natural History Museum in Warsaw.

The PAN’s document emphasized that the proposed museum should serve both exhibition and scientific purposes. It suggested leveraging the scientific resources of PAN institutions, with their collections forming a significant part of the museum’s exhibits, aligning with the dual mission seen in similar institutions worldwide.

The Presidium considers the realization of this endeavor urgent, emphasizing the need for broad, non-partisan collaboration. PAN expressed its readiness to contribute its competencies for the successful creation of the museum. The PAN aligns with the existing plans of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, envisioning a complex housing both the National Museum of Technology and the Natural History Museum on the grounds of the National Stadium.
