Prof. Cenckiewicz in “Gazeta Polska”: Russian Services in PO’s Vulgar Campaign

The eight-star symbol, a “hidden” message meaning “F*** PiS”—particularly well known among politicians and the electorate of Law and Justice (PiS)—was a key slogan in the 2023 parliamentary campaign. However, it had emerged much earlier. Recently, it has come to light that the GRU was involved in the campaign against the President and the Polish government two years ago. Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz examined the case in the latest issue of the weekly Gazeta Polska.

Prof. Cenckiewicz’s Analysis

Yesterday, a day before the latest issue of Gazeta Polska was published, Prof. Cenckiewicz—one of the creators of the documentary series Reset and co-author of the book Zgoda—announced that new information regarding the eight-star campaign would be revealed.

Russia’s Full Engagement

And so it happened. In the weekly Dom Wolnego Słowa, Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz describes the entire process—how Russia, through the GRU, conducted hybrid warfare against Poland, aiming to weaken the Law and Justice government.

A key element was a 16-member sabotage and diversionary group, dismantled by the ABW (Polish Internal Security Agency) in 2023 and convicted of espionage in 2024. The agents, recruited via social media (including Facebook and Telegram) under the guise of job offers (e.g., “Rabota v Varshave”—”Work in Warsaw”), installed cameras along railway lines transporting aid to Ukraine, scouted critical infrastructure such as Jasionka Airport and the ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia, and conducted propaganda operations.

An analysis of prosecutorial records—spanning over 100 volumes—clearly shows that the GRU aimed to create chaos and undermine the authority of the Polish government.

“One of the tasks of Russian intelligence is also to carry out destructive and sabotage operations behind enemy lines.” — states the cited expert analysis.

Agents such as Maksym Leha and Artem Averba painted slogans like “F*** PiS” and “Stop Duda,” distributed leaflets, and planned acts of terror, including the derailment of a train. Their activities were financed through cryptocurrencies, with evidence documented in photos and videos.

Prof. Cenckiewicz points out that Russia supported the left-liberal uprising to overthrow the “Russophobic” PiS government.

“It is obvious that the political beneficiary of the GRU’s involvement in the fight against the President and the Polish government during the 2023 election year was Donald Tusk’s political camp, which in verbal rhetoric adopted ‘F** PiS’ as its political message.”* — writes the author.
