MP Mariusz Gosek told TV Republika that the ruling coalition has allegedly “stitched together” a plan aimed squarely at TV Republika. During the first post‑Easter sitting of the Sejm, the Committee on Constitutional Accountability is expected to table a motion to bring the chairman of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), Maciej Świrski, before the State Tribunal. If that happens, it could block a cassation appeal against a ruling that struck down the Council’s resolution granting licences to TV Republika and wPolsce24.
“At the post‑Easter sitting of the Sejm—according to highly reliable sources—a motion will most likely emerge from the Committee on Constitutional Accountability to put KRRiT chairman Maciej Świrski before the State Tribunal. The vote is set for Thursday, 24 April. This is a very real scenario,” Gosek said on‑air.
“A smiling judge of the Voivodeship Administrative Court ruled that the licence, including that of TV Republika, should be revoked. KRRiT is a party in the case; if Chairman Świrski is hauled before the Tribunal, he will be suspended and KRRiT will lose the ability to appeal,” he added.
Calling the move “a tailor‑made plan,” the MP urged viewers to support TV Republika and warned that “two tough days await us right after the holidays.”
Committee’s agenda: the Świrski case
The Sejm will convene on 23–24 April. On Wednesday, 23 April, at 20:00, the Committee on Constitutional Accountability is scheduled to meet to “assess the evidence gathered in the preliminary motion to hold Maciej Świrski, Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council, constitutionally liable before the State Tribunal.”

On 9 April 2025 Judge Barbara Kołodziejczak‑Osetek of the Warsaw Voivodeship Administrative Court annulled both the disputed KRRiT decision and its 21 June 2024 resolution concerning broadcast licences for TV Republika and the channel wPolsce24.
