5 million PLN, apartments in Sopot and Warsaw’s Wilanów district – these are the payments Roman Giertych and his law firm allegedly received for their “work” on behalf of Ryszard Krauze. The prosecutor overseeing the investigation into the Polnord scandal spoke about the case in the Polish Parliament (Sejm).
Prosecutor Jerzy Ziarkiewicz, who supervised the investigation into money laundering by Roman Giertych, presented in the Sejm how much Giertych’s law firm received for services that became the subject of the probe. He placed particular emphasis on the fees paid by companies Prokom Investments and Polnord.
“As part of the proceedings we conducted in Lublin, based on an analysis of the case files, we established that over the course of more than 12 months between 2010 and 2012, the total amount received as ‘remuneration’ was approximately 5 million PLN. (…) Part of this ‘remuneration’ was paid to attorney Giertych in the form of apartments located in Sopot and in the Wilanów district of Warsaw,” the prosecutor stated.
He added that the analysis of the case files showed that during that time, Giertych participated in just one court hearing before the Supreme Administrative Court. “It did not last longer than 20 minutes. Throughout the entire proceedings, the attorney drafted only one document,” he emphasized.
