Sabalenka Overpowers Świątek to Reach WTA Cincinnati Final

Iga Świątek’s run in the WTA Cincinnati tournament ended in the semifinals with a straight-sets loss to Aryna Sabalenka, 3-6, 3-6. Sabalenka’s powerful serves and aggressive play left Świątek struggling to keep up, ultimately propelling the Belarusian into the final, where she will face either Jessica Pegula or Paula Badosa.

This was the 12th encounter between Świątek and Sabalenka, with Świątek having won eight of their previous matches, including two finals earlier this year in Madrid and Rome.

The match began with Sabalenka setting a dominant tone, quickly breaking Świątek’s serve and taking the first set 6-3. Although Świątek showed resilience, managing to equalize at 2-2, Sabalenka’s unrelenting pressure and flawless service games allowed her to close out the set.

Rain delays briefly interrupted Sabalenka’s momentum, but upon resumption, she quickly regained control. Despite a valiant effort from Świątek, who saved multiple match points in a dramatic second set, Sabalenka’s power proved decisive. The Belarusian secured the win with another 6-3 set, avenging her earlier defeats and advancing to the final.
