In the morning program of Radio Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz, head of the House of Free Speech, assessed the current political scene, emphasizing the international successes of President Karol Nawrocki and sharply criticizing the strategy of Donald Tusk and Radosław Sikorski’s government. Sakiewicz pointed out that the greatest achievement of Nawrocki’s visit to Washington are the security guarantees from Donald Trump, while at the same time accusing the coalition of a “lack of foresight” and an attempt to “trap Nawrocki”.
Sakiewicz highlighted the international achievements of President Nawrocki, particularly in the context of his visit to the USA:
“The greatest success of Karol Nawrocki’s visit to Washington are the security guarantees. Donald Trump raised this matter right at the start. He did it deliberately, knowing that Tusk and Sikorski wanted to trap Nawrocki by saying: you have to go there and secure the presence of the troops, because if you don’t, it means you’re conducting politics poorly.“
He also criticized the government’s earlier actions toward Donald Trump:
“Those furious attacks on Donald Trump in the past stemmed from a lack of foresight. They humiliated Trump, assuming he wouldn’t win. They relied on polls that, as it turned out, weren’t worth much.“
Sakiewicz also pointed to Donald Trump’s trust in President Nawrocki’s circle, while at the same time sidelining Minister Sikorski:
“Trump knows that he can reach an understanding with President Nawrocki and that a key figure in the presidential office is Professor Cenckiewicz, and that is why Pete Hegseth will speak with the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), not with the head of the Ministry of National Defense (MON).“
In his view, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski is guided by personal ambition:
“Sikorski’s behavior does not look serious, but he doesn’t care about seriousness. He wants to show the Americans that they can rely on him, so that they will anoint him as prime minister.“
Sakiewicz also predicts shifts within the ruling coalition, suggesting a possible reshuffle in the prime minister’s office:
“For Tusk, it would be more advantageous to replace him with Kosiniak-Kamysz, because he is loyal to him. Part of the coalition may struggle to accept this candidacy. Tusk has reached a point where the majority of society no longer accepts him.”
He emphasized the “winning streak” of President Nawrocki in building relations with key figures worldwide, naming alongside Donald Trump also Giorgia Meloni and the Holy Father:
“We undoubtedly have a winning streak for President Nawrocki, who is reaching understandings with more and more important figures. Number one is of course Donald Trump, but Giorgia Meloni is a figure of great European stature, and today there is a meeting with Pope Leo XIV. Karol Nawrocki does not hide his attachment to Catholic values, and Leo XIV is the second most important American. He is a pope who, not only physically but also through many actions, resembles John Paul II. For Karol Nawrocki, this is a good time, because Poland is still a faithful daughter of the Catholic Church.“
Referring to Berlin’s reaction to President Nawrocki’s recent successes, Sakiewicz stated:
“In Berlin, it was rather mourning that he had won, but the Germans will exploit their advantage gained on the Polish political scene – through dominance in the media, in European institutions – but they will have to change their policy toward Poland, because if they don’t, our relations will worsen, and many are already dissatisfied with their policy in Europe.“
