Sakiewicz: Government blunders will ultimately expose the truth

In an interview with Radio Republika, the CEO of TV Republika and editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska, Tomasz Sakiewicz, commented on the arrest of four young men allegedly responsible for a wave of false bomb threats and hoax emergency reports. He described the incidents as part of a broader campaign targeting opposition circles and independent media. According to Sakiewicz, the actions of the authorities suggest cooperation between elements of the ruling camp and cyberterrorists.

During the interview, Sakiewicz stressed that those affected by the wave of false reports included TV Republika journalists, Sławomir Cenckiewicz, Jarosław Kaczyński, and President Karol Nawrocki, whose residence was entered by the authorities twice, including an apartment belonging to his mother.

The Radio Republika guest pointed to what he described as numerous irregularities in the conduct of the police and prosecution service. He highlighted the perpetrators’ detailed knowledge of addresses, including protected ones, telephone numbers, and their apparent ability to monitor law enforcement operations in real time.

The journalist left no doubt about whom he believed was responsible:

“There is no possibility that there was not either presumed or deliberate cooperation between those in power and the cyberterrorists.”

In his view, the police and security services operated outside established procedures, doors were forced open, officers allegedly refused to identify themselves, and standard verification procedures were ignored.

“If, twelve hours earlier, the same report was dealt with by a simple phone call to me, yet a repeated report results in a physical raid on an apartment… then it is obvious that this government is cooperating with cyberterrorists,”

he stated firmly.

Sakiewicz also recalled what he described as promises of “revenge” following the case involving Zbigniew Ziobro and pointed to the government’s swift reaction after the arrests.

“It really took only a matter of hours from the final decision to its execution.”

According to the editor, the operation had been “laboratory-crafted,” making use of previously detained individuals and established patterns, while even removing the prosecutor originally handling the case. He noted that the National Prosecutor’s Office had established a special team of prosecutors to pursue cases against TV Republika journalists over alleged trespassing violations. Sakiewicz himself was penalized for refusing to testify in a case in which, he claims, he was not even present.

“I was punished because, according to the official statement, I refused to testify on May 19. That is true, because I wasn’t there on the 19th…” he remarked sarcastically, describing what he viewed as the absurdity of being summoned in connection with one case and questioned about another.

Comparing the conduct of the current authorities to the communist era, Sakiewicz stated:

“Kierwiński’s rhetoric is exactly the rhetoric of an Interior Ministry spokesman from the days of Kiszczak.”

He argued that, despite the seemingly absurd nature of the actions, they remain burdensome and dangerous, and that the mindset of decision-makers has changed little since the period of martial law.

In conclusion, the editor expressed confidence that the authorities’ haste and mistakes would ultimately expose the truth.

“Someone is always recording something, someone always says something, and sooner or later, some kind of leak always occurs.”
