Sakiewicz on Absurdities in the Prosecutor’s Office: “They Threatened That If I Didn’t Disclose the White House Address, I Would Be Detained”

“The prosecutor’s office asked me to determine the address of the White House, the European Parliament, Karol Nawrocki, Andrzej Duda – I provided the address of his previous workplace, it seems he works in the same place as Karol Nawrocki. They also asked me to establish the addresses of leading representatives of politics and journalism in Japan, Romania, Hungary, France, even the former head of German intelligence. They asked us to determine them because TV Republika, together with the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Region, allegedly committed a serious crime by organizing an international congress promoting, among other things, Podkarpackie – CPAC. We are being prosecuted over this,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor-in-chief of TV Republika, on the program “Political Coffee.”

The prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation into the organization of CPAC Poland in May 2025 in Jasionka near Rzeszów. In September 2025, TV Republika, which co-organized the event, received a letter from the prosecutor’s office requesting, among other things, a full list of approximately 1,000 participants of the CPAC Poland conference.

Today on TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz, the station’s editor-in-chief, spoke about further absurdities emerging in the case.

We are being prosecuted over this,” Tomasz Sakiewicz said.

He added that Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security in Donald Trump’s administration, would likely be summoned by the prosecutor’s office, along with a former head of German intelligence, one of Japan’s key politicians, a former Romanian presidential candidate, and representatives of human rights organizations from Hungary and the United States.

“The prosecutor threatened me that if I did not disclose the address of the White House, I would receive 30 days of detention. (…) They wanted us to provide the addresses of Secret Service agents from the Special Forces group that allegedly took part in the ‘relocation’ of Nicolas Maduro to another location. Later they concluded that this might be going too far,” said the editor-in-chief of TV Republika.

Tomasz Sakiewicz pointed out that recent weeks have been marked by events surrounding TV Republika – alleged death threats against a journalist by officers of the State Protection Service, attempts to cut off the station’s signal, intimidation of the National Broadcasting Council, and a flood of lawsuits.

“What should our response be to such repression? TV Republika is facing repression on a scale reminiscent of the communist era. They may not have entered, not killed – although some allegedly planned to – they have not imprisoned anyone, although they are trying to shut us down,” Tomasz Sakiewicz asked the station’s guest, Karol Rabenda.

“Every media outlet independent of Tusk’s government has had to struggle with problems and attacks for two years. The entire scandalous situation involving the unlawful takeover of public media, what is happening around TV Republika and other media critical of Tusk’s rule – this is a situation unseen in Poland for decades. It also shows the approach to democracy and freedom of speech as understood by the ruling side, by Donald Tusk – that it should not exist. There should be no public debate, politicians with different opinions should be prosecuted, and journalists who try to hold the authorities accountable are intimidated, while media outlets are pressured financially or even threatened. This situation also demonstrates this government’s approach to the media,” assessed the presidential minister.
