Sakiewicz responds to Giertych’s post: “Someone hacked your account”

“Mr Roman, someone hacked into your account two days ago and posted some terribly foolish things. Completely at odds with what you are writing now”, Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of TV Republika, replied to the latest post by Roman Giertych.

“Assad, Maduro…Tusk?” Tomasz Sakiewicz wrote on social media on Saturday.

The short post by the head of Republika was seen by nearly three million users on the X platform, triggering an avalanche of comments. A heated debate erupted, involving, among others, the leaders of the largest parties – Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the president of Law and Justice (PiS) Jarosław Kaczyński.

Giertych activates the prosecutor’s office

Roman Giertych also responded to Tomasz Sakiewicz’s post – a trusted associate of Donald Tusk and legal representative of him and members of his family. The Civic Coalition MP wrote on X: “I am filing a notification to the Prosecutor General against Tomasz Sakiewicz over his post inciting war against the democratically elected authorities of the Republic of Poland. The owner of one of the larger television stations is a person whose posts cannot be ignored.”

Action Democracy wants 20 years in prison for Tomasz Sakiewicz

In addition to Giertych, Action Democracy (Akcja Demokracja) also stepped in – an organization known for actions previously directed against the United Right (Zjednoczona Prawica) government. It announced a campaign to “collect signatures” for a notification to the prosecutor’s office in connection with Tomasz Sakiewicz’s post. In its assessment, the statement meets the criteria of a prohibited act under Article 128 of the Criminal Code, concerning an attack on a constitutional body of the Republic of Poland, punishable by 3 to 20 years in prison.

Michał Rachoń, program director of TV Republika, recalled that employees and volunteers of Action Democracy are responsible for political advertisements promoting Rafał Trzaskowski during the presidential campaign and attacking other candidates, particularly those from the right-wing camp.

“People from #ActionDemocracy (…) believe that the opinion of the head of the largest Polish news station expressed on platform X constitutes an attempt to >>remove by force<< a Polish constitutional body. This is precisely why we warn, and will continue to warn, against the crypto-dictatorship that Donald Tusk has been consistently implementing since the first days of his term, in line with the theses of the German Klaus Bachmann,” Rachoń wrote on x.com.

Yesterday on the program W Punkt, editor Katarzyna Gójska commented: “During criticism of Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the context of events in Venezuela, completely astonishing proposals suddenly appeared. The editor-in-chief of our station, Tomasz Sakiewicz, posted a short entry. He actually mentioned three names: Assad, Maduro, and then Tusk. It turned out that this triggered an unbelievable avalanche. MP Roman Giertych set off. In the same direction went the organization ‘Action Democracy’, which until now we have known for strange financing of an election campaign in favor of a Civic Coalition candidate. The matter was never explained by the services or the prosecutor’s office, even though many election committees – of various candidates – spoke about it and sounded the alarm. If this organization, God knows financed by whom, invokes Article 128 of the Criminal Code, then it seems to assume that Tomasz Sakiewicz is urging Donald Trump to carry out some kind of landing here, abduct Prime Minister Donald Tusk and take him to New York. That is more or less how this should be understood…”

Has Giertych changed his narrative? “Someone hacked your account”

Although Roman Giertych “shared” the Action Democracy campaign, he posted a new entry – with content completely different from that quoted above.

“Sakiewicz should not go to prison for his posts, but at least for the fact that he pocketed 150 million from State Treasury companies to expand his business. For his posts, he should face universal contempt and be punished with community service,” we read.

The Civic Coalition MP’s publication was met with a response from the person concerned himself. Tomasz Sakiewicz recalled Giertych’s post from January 3, writing: “Mr Roman, someone hacked into your account two days ago and posted some terribly foolish things. Completely at odds with what you are writing now. I am warning you out of old acquaintance.”
