Same-Sex Marriages a Priority for Tusk. Critics Remind Him About the Dignity of Polish Patients

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today that the issue of so-called same-sex marriages is “a matter of human dignity.” He was sharply criticized by Prof. Przemysław Czarnek, the Law and Justice (PiS) candidate for prime minister.

“Human dignity is being discussed by a man who denies Poles access to diagnostic tests and forces them to wait months in line to see a doctor,” the politician wrote on X.

Tusk stated today that the issue of so-called same-sex marriages has for many days “been at the center of public attention.”

“This is a matter of human dignity, the right to happiness, the right to equal treatment by the state. In these terms, I ask everyone here and in parliament alike — beginning with language, through actions and facts — to respect the dignity of every person and to remember that these people live around us, next to us, among us, and deserve the same feelings of respect, dignity, and love as any other human being,” Tusk said.

The prime minister emphasized that following rulings by the Court of Justice of the European Union and Poland’s Supreme Administrative Court, legislative solutions introducing so-called same-sex marriages across Poland would be prepared quickly.

A similar assessment was voiced by Jacek Sasin, former minister of state assets and currently an MP.

“Human dignity means access to universal healthcare, safe housing, and solid education — not your anti-civilizational fantasies,” he wrote.
