Fuel prices at petrol stations are rising sharply. “We demand once again that our bill reducing VAT from 23 percent to 8 percent on all fuels be adopted by the Sejm next week,” said Przemysław Czarnek (Law and Justice) today.
Fuel price increases have been observed since the beginning of July. Last week, prices rose by 24-27 groszy per litre for petrol and by 33 groszy for diesel. Average prices have already exceeded 7 PLN per litre. According to experts, 95-octane petrol may cost 7.30 PLN per litre this week, while diesel prices could increase by 57 groszy to 7.90 PLN.
Today, during a press conference held at an Orlen petrol station, Przemysław Czarnek, the Law and Justice (PiS) candidate for prime minister, spoke about high fuel prices.
“What shocks people the most are the scary bills at Polish petrol stations. The receipt I have just received shows 300 PLN, with petrol costing 7.29 PLN per litre. Forecasts indicate that diesel could rise to 8.20 PLN. These are not fuel costs that Polish families can afford,” said Czarnek.
“We demand once again that our bill reducing VAT from 23 percent to 8 percent on all fuels be adopted by the Sejm next week,” added the Law and Justice (PiS) candidate for prime minister.
“So that Poles can travel during the holiday season and so that they do not have to face scary bills at Orlen petrol stations in Poland,” he concluded.
