Weronika Krawczyk, a mother convicted for warning other women online about an abortion-performing gynecologist, plans to write a letter to President Karol Nawrocki asking for a pardon — reports the Life and Family Foundation, which has prepared the petition.
In the petition, the Foundation recounts Krawczyk’s story. In 2016, she was told that her unborn son would have Down syndrome. The obstetrician in charge of her pregnancy, Piotr A., urged her to abort the child. Krawczyk refused, and the boy was born healthy. “Unfortunately, the stress caused by the doctor negatively affected both the baby and the mother, and the consequences for the child continue to this day,” reads the Foundation’s website.
In 2022, Krawczyk advised another woman online not to have her pregnancy managed by Piotr A., after the woman asked about the doctor on a forum. The gynecologist accused Krawczyk of defamation. While nine months pregnant with another child, she received a police summons, where she was subjected to a DNA collection procedure — which, as the Foundation notes, “is completely unnecessary in defamation cases.”
A Convicted Accuser?
“The case dragged on for more than three years. The Life and Family Foundation provided legal support to Weronika throughout the proceedings. During the trial, the Foundation discovered that a man with the same first name and surname initial as the gynecologist accusing Weronika had previously been convicted of performing numerous illegal abortions. Moreover, he was of a similar age (37 at the time) and ran a clinic in Gdańsk at the same address as Weronika’s accuser — on Przemyska Street,” the Foundation reports. It adds that in that earlier case, the gynecologist was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended, but was not stripped of his medical license.
A Scandalous Decision and a Petition
In 2025, the court issued a verdict against Krawczyk, sentencing her to four months of community service, publication of a public apology, and payment of court costs. The verdict was upheld by the court of appeal.
Krawczyk now plans to appeal to President Karol Nawrocki for clemency. The Life and Family Foundation has prepared a petition in support of her pardon, which can be signed HERE.
