“This threatens our security, our military and economic contracts, and weakens Poland’s position. The alliance with the US is a permanent raison d’état for Poland. Do not hand over Poland’s security to people who do not understand this,” we hear in the latest spot published by Mateusz Morawiecki, former Prime Minister of Poland.
The politician’s reaction follows remarks made by the prime minister a few days earlier. Donald Tusk described the plan to withdraw American troops from Germany and deploy them in Poland as “a delicate matter”; he added that he does not want to “poach them” (the soldiers – ed.). The spot also features a statement by Radosław Sikorski, who once said: “The Polish-American alliance is worthless, complete bullshit”.
“The alliance with the US is a permanent raison d’état for Poland”
In the spot we hear: “The US is the foundation of NATO, the guarantor of Poland’s security. The best relations with the US in history and a strategic alliance are the legacy of the governments of Law and Justice (PiS). But someone does not like it”.
“Successive governments of Civic Platform led by Tusk have, over the years, taken many actions and decisions that weakened Poland’s security and harmed the Polish-American alliance,” it was recalled.
“Is this how good relations are built? Today they openly do not want to host allied troops on Polish territory. This threatens our security, our military and economic contracts, and weakens Poland’s position. The alliance with the US is a permanent raison d’état for Poland. Do not hand over Poland’s security to people who do not understand this,” it was added.
