The presence of Telewizja Republika and its journalists — led by the station’s president — at the CPAC conference in Dallas clearly struck a nerve with Poland’s foreign minister. After a sarcastic jab on social media, he quickly received a response. “We truly missed his photos on the stairs leading to the CPAC conference hall this time. Why didn’t you try? Maybe they would have let you in after all,” Sakiewicz replied.
This year’s main edition of CPAC took place in Dallas, Texas, gathering conservatives from around the world. The highlight of Saturday was a speech by Polish President Karol Nawrocki. The Polish leader addressed, among other issues, the scale of the threat posed by Russia, presenting the Central European perspective on the international stage.
Just before the Polish president, Tomasz Sakiewicz and Michał Rachoń appeared on the main stage. Afterwards, Telewizja Republika broadcast a special edition live from the United States. All of this was closely followed by the head of Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as evidenced by his social media post.
“Such media, such stars,” he wrote, attaching a screenshot from Republika. The station’s head quickly fired back.
“I cannot respond to the minister on his profile because he blocked me out of fear. We truly missed his photos on the stairs leading to the CPAC conference hall this time. Why didn’t you try? Maybe they would have let you in after all,” the reply read.
“In Texas, drugs are still illegal, but that surely has nothing to do with what we’re discussing here. Although some people see all sorts of ‘stars’ after taking them…” he added.
Sakiewicz was referring to Sikorski’s unsuccessful efforts last year to secure a speaking slot at CPAC. The politician — who attended the event alongside self-proclaimed ambassador Bogdan Klich — reportedly even had trouble entering at first. Ultimately, he took a seat in the audience, proudly posing for photographs.
