A Serious Response to a Flippant Post
The president reacted. “Dear Minister Radosław Sikorski, I am already back in Poland—today is National Reading Day. I have no way of addressing your Washington photo album in another form, but I appeal for seriousness,” Nawrocki began.
“Our relations with the USA are truly a matter of fundamental importance for Poland. A foreign minister taking selfies in front of our partner’s government buildings is not the right path. Please, for a moment, forget emotions, our internal politics, and your travel photo album. Please adjust your armor and represent a serious partner of the USA—Poland—with dignity,” he appealed in his post.
He continued: “This is not about your good—though troubling—mood. These are matters of state. I believe that as soon as I find the time, and once you have cooled off, we will meet for a serious conversation about the concerning state of Polish diplomacy—including in the USA, where we have lacked an ambassador for quite some time.”
