Somali Migrants Hit the Streets in Szczecin. Matecki Presents Documents: “They Can Claim Any Lie”

The controversy surrounding a group of ten African nationals currently residing in Szczecin continues to spark debate. Today, Member of Parliament Dariusz Matecki presented documents found in possession of the men.

“They can declare any falsehood, including claiming to be 15 years old – in which case they may be placed in a children’s home. We are talking about individuals from, for example, Somalia – an Islamic state with one of the highest crime rates in the world, where violent crime is a daily reality,” the MP wrote on social media.

Footage Revealed on Friday Evening

On Friday evening, MP Dariusz Matecki shared footage related to the incident. Residents of Szczecin had called the police after a group of African migrants had reportedly disturbed the peace by sitting for several hours at a bus stop on Mickiewicza Street. The men did not speak English; one of them stated that he was from Somalia.

“They’re Going Out into the City”

On Saturday, MP Matecki announced that the group had been taken to a homeless shelter run by the Missionaries of Charity (the Sisters of Mother Teresa) in Szczecin.

“Today, they are going out into the city. Yesterday, they sat at the bus stop, on the curbs. Residents called in, alarmed that from 7 PM to 11 PM, there were shouts and Islamic songs under their windows. (…) Today, they’re on Gdański Boulevard in Szczecin,” the MP reported.

Investigative journalist Tomasz Duklanowski suggested that placing the migrants with the Missionaries of Charity may have been an intentional move.

“What utter cynicism! In a country governed by the Civic Platform (PO), the police deliver illegal migrants to the Missionaries of Charity (Kalkuta Sisters). These are the very same nuns whom PO city council members, five years ago, obstructed in their work. Together with the non-affiliated members aligned with Mayor Krzystek, they blocked the transfer of a building where, for nearly 40 years, the sisters have been caring for the homeless in place of the state,” Duklanowski wrote on social media.

He emphasized that the sisters are currently facing financial hardship, and their shelter is under threat of closure.

“They Can Claim Any Lie”

Today, MP Matecki presented documents and described the mechanism by which the Somali nationals may have ended up in Szczecin.

“German authorities load migrants into vehicles and register in their documents that they arrived in Germany from Poland. Then they transport them back to Poland. If this is not entirely an unsanctioned act – and many cases are – it is carried out in coordination with the Border Guard,” he wrote.

He stressed that all information about the individuals comes from their own declarations, as they possess no documentation verifying their identity.

“They can say anything, including that they are 15 years old – and then they are placed in a child welfare home. We are thus dealing with individuals from, for example, Somalia – an Islamic state with one of the highest crime rates in the world, where violent crime is routine. Take a look at this document – citizenship is listed as Eritrean, but further in the text it states the individual is Ethiopian,” Matecki pointed out.

Foreign nationals receive a document in Polish titled “Decision on the Application of Measures”, in which they are required to report once a week to a Border Guard office.

“We are therefore talking about individuals who are in Poland illegally, whose identity – and possible criminal history – cannot be verified by Polish authorities in any way. Such individuals, potentially without any means of support, are released into the city, including at night (as I showed during my intervention in Szczecin). This is a situation that endangers the safety of our entire society – of all people, regardless of political views,” warned MP Dariusz Matecki.
