The General Command of the Armed Forces announced that scheduled training flights involving supersonic aircraft will be conducted in Polish airspace. “During the exercises, the sound barrier may be broken,” the command said.
Breaking the sound barrier can be heard as a loud bang, known as a sonic boom. The military reassured that this is a natural effect of flying at speeds exceeding the speed of sound. “Flights are carried out in accordance with applicable regulations, under the supervision of services responsible for airspace safety,” the General Command of the Armed Forces emphasized.
Important information
Military officials added that the flights pose no threat to residents or infrastructure. “All operations are conducted in a controlled manner, with the highest safety standards. Citizens have no reason to worry and can feel safe,” the statement noted, thanking the public for their understanding. At the end of January, residents of the Tri-City area were alarmed by a powerful boom in the sky. Later, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces informed that military aircraft were carrying out operational flights over the southern Baltic Sea, which was linked to the appearance of Russian fighter jets in the Baltic region.
