SOP Responds to Our Inquiry. Only Today Were the Threats Referred to the Prosecutor’s Office

The State Protection Service (SOP) has initiated disciplinary proceedings and suspended the officer from official duties, while a notification of a suspected crime was sent to the prosecutor’s office—only today, as we read in the response to our questions. Did SOP delay notifying the authorities? After all, the Service must have known about the threats against Piotr Nisztor earlier, at least in light of the questions sent by the journalist.

Telewizja Republika revealed shocking recordings on air. The case concerns an officer of the State Protection Service, Lt. Col. Wojciech B., code-named “Biszkopt.” In an excerpt from a conversation published from February 2024 with two other individuals, a man responsible for the security of the most important figures in the state—including the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski—was planning a brutal crime against Piotr Nisztor.

Our editorial team sent questions to SOP regarding Wojciech B.’s current status in the Service, the security clearance he holds, and whether the services had referred the matter of criminal threats against the journalist to the prosecutor’s office.

The Officer’s Problems Began Earlier

Before noon, we received a response indicating that “service-related actions concerning the SOP officer (…) had been carried out significantly earlier.”

“We inform you that SOP was not in possession of journalistic materials containing threats made by an SOP officer against one of the journalists. Upon obtaining this information, SOP today submitted a notification to the prosecutor’s office regarding the possibility that a crime was committed,” the statement reads.

“The officer was removed from his duties on October 26, 2025, after SOP obtained information that a complaint against the officer had been filed with the police by a former partner. Explanatory actions were undertaken in that matter. In connection with further information concerning the officer that reached the State Protection Service, the SOP Commander, Col. Tomasz Jackowicz, on February 2, 2026 initiated disciplinary proceedings and suspended the officer from official duties. The basis for these decisions was a breach of ethical principles through the possible disclosure of sensitive data of officers and protected persons,” reads the response sent to the Niezalezna.pl portal.

SOP submitted the notification today, even though it must have known about the case earlier—if only in light of the questions sent last Friday by editor Piotr Nisztor.
