After his meeting with the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s only move was to post a short online message — and its content was rather peculiar. What does it say about the situation?
Today at 12:00 p.m., President Karol Nawrocki met with Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the latter’s request.
Although it was the first meeting between the two politicians, it did not last long. By around 1:00 p.m., Tusk was already back at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. Representatives of the Presidential Palace commented on the talks.
Tusk’s strange reaction
Donald Tusk also decided to speak about the meeting with the president — in his usual fashion, by posting a message on social media. Short and… completely unrelated to the pressing issues facing Poles.
“There was one thing on which the President and I agreed one hundred percent: that we have loving families and fantastic children!” — the post read.
What does this mean? This is what TV Republika’s editor-in-chief, Tomasz Sakiewicz, was asked.
“Assuming Prime Minister Donald Tusk is not in some terminal stage of his psyche — because such a post obviously does not speak well of his condition — it means he wanted to say that on all other matters, there was no agreement. That’s how this post should be read. And that means it was a very difficult conversation, also for Prime Minister Donald Tusk,” said the head of the Dom Wolnego Słowa station on air.
He added:
“The Prime Minister did not intend to meet with President Karol Nawrocki, he humiliated him, did not congratulate him, and… ran into a brick wall. Those reactions of his in the Sejm during the swearing-in — which we showed, and thanks to your support we were able to broadcast everything — that was very important. The Prime Minister was shaken, nervous.”
Sakiewicz also referred to the meeting of European leaders with Donald Trump, to which Donald Tusk was not invited — but President Karol Nawrocki was.
“After the American diplomacy said: we do not want this gentleman to participate even as a backdrop for the conversation. Donald Tusk didn’t even have to speak at that meeting. Yet they still did not want him to be present as a witness to the talks. Imagine how humiliating that must be for him!” stressed Tomasz Sakiewicz.
