Activists from the Border Defense Movement apprehended a group of four illegal migrants from Eritrea in the middle of the night. “The state has abdicated — we must act on our own. For the safety of Poles,” wrote Robert Bąkiewicz.
The Border Defense Movement is a nationwide civic initiative founded by Robert Bąkiewicz, aimed at defending Poland from mass migration and the threats associated with it. Activists from across the country participate in the movement’s activities. Some travel as far as 400 kilometers to reach the border in order to take part in night patrols. While the rest of Poland sleeps, they keep watch.
Just yesterday, within an hour, they encountered a dark-skinned man who struggled to explain how he had entered Polish territory. Last night’s operation proved even more dramatic. In Gubin, the Border Defense Movement performed a citizen’s arrest of four Eritreans.
“A short while ago, a patrol of the Border Defense Movement in Gubin apprehended four illegal migrants from Eritrea on a railway bridge. We are awaiting the arrival of the authorities. The state has abdicated — we must act on our own. For the safety of Poles,” wrote Robert Bąkiewicz during the night.
The Border Defense Movement is not slowing down and has announced plans to deploy drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras to the border, aiming to prevent illegal migrants from crossing from Germany into Poland under the cover of darkness.
