Today, Swiatek once again faced Sabalenka in the final of Porsche Tennis in Stuttgart. Last year, the Pole beat the Belarusian 6-2, 6-2, but this year’s win did not come so easily. Fortunately, Swiatek beat Sabalenka again, but this time 6-3, 6-4!
The first set was incredibly evenly matched. From the start, the two players went head-to-head winning one game each. At 5:3, Iga finally broke the Belarusian and served for the set. The emotional ending ended positively for the Pole and she won 6-3.
Swiatek entered the second set perfectly, as she started by breaking Sabalenka. Although the Belarusian managed to get into a rhythm and win a game, it was Swiatek who managed to bring the score to 3-1. In all this, one could also notice Sabalenka’s nervousness, who at times seemed to have no control over her anger.
And although it might have seemed that with a 5-3 scoreline for Swiatek the match would end quickly, nothing of the sort happened. Sabalenka played more and more aggressively. But at 5-4, Iga started to serve. And that was it! Swiatek defeats Sabalenka for the second time and wins for the second time in Stuttgart!
Iga Świątek – Aryna Sabalenka 2:0 (6-3, 6-4)
