A member of the Civic Coalition, Michał Szczerba, made a significant blunder on air during the “7th Day of the Week” program on Radio ZET. He accused President Andrzej Duda of failing to appoint a Polish ambassador to NATO — despite the fact that the appointment had been made weeks earlier.
During the broadcast, Michał Szczerba stated: “It is a disgrace for Andrzej Duda that, to this day, he has not appointed a Polish ambassador to NATO.”
The problem? The ambassador had been officially appointed over two months prior. On April 11, 2025, President Andrzej Duda signed the decree appointing Jacek Najder as Poland’s ambassador to NATO. The act was published in the official journal Monitor Polski (item 393) and entered into force the same day.
Swift Response
Katarzyna Pawlak-Mucha, Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of Poland, quickly responded to the embarrassing statement. In a post on the platform “X,” she commented:
“In my view, it is an even greater embarrassment that the Civic Coalition remains unaware that President Andrzej Duda has already appointed Mr. Jacek Najder as Poland’s ambassador to NATO.”
Pawlak-Mucha also delivered a pointed remark, noting that Szczerba himself previously served as Chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly — a role in which he should be particularly well-informed about such fundamental matters.
