“Lower electricity prices from October are in the hands of the ruling coalition. The President will sign the shield as soon as it is passed by parliament” – writes Paweł Szefernaker, Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, on social media, countering the spiral of manipulation fueled by the ruling camp.
President of Poland Karol Nawrocki announced today that he is vetoing the so-called wind farm bill.
- It is a form of blackmail by the parliamentary majority and the government, not only towards the President of Poland but also towards society – he explained. – This bill concerns wind farms, not lowering electricity prices – he clarified. The President added that in order to reduce prices, it is necessary to move away from ETS and the Green Deal.
At the same time, the Polish head of state assured that the Chancellery has prepared a draft solution which, if swiftly processed by parliament, could already by the end of September, with the President’s signature, guarantee Poles an extension of relief for electricity prices.
Let us recall – in the wind farm bill sent by Donald Tusk’s government to the President for signature, a “wrzutka” (last-minute insertion) appeared in the form of provisions freezing energy prices in Poland. Now, using friendly media, the ruling camp is trying to force the President to sign the entire package. However, not necessarily the whole bill is beneficial for Poles.
Manipulations of the ruling coalition
Despite the clear declaration of the President of Poland, Donald Tusk’s coalition is trying to spread on social media the false narrative that Karol Nawrocki does not want cheaper energy for Poles.
Head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland, Paweł Szefernaker, decided to speak out on the matter – highlighting the government’s actions.
“First they limited the shield until September 30, 2025, then in an unconstitutional way they attached its provisions to the wind farm bill, and now they are surprised that President Nawrocki is defending Polish families from wind turbines 500 meters from their windows.”
And further: “the shield will be sent today by President Nawrocki to the Sejm. The Sejm has already once adopted these provisions when they were attached to the wind farms.”
Szefernaker summed up: “lower electricity prices from October are in the hands of the ruling coalition. The President will sign the shield as soon as it is passed by parliament.”
