Head of the Presidential Cabinet Paweł Szefernaker summed up the Health Summit “Saving Healthcare,” organised by President Karol Nawrocki. The politician stressed that the head of state listens to experts and takes actions that, as he noted, Donald Tusk’s government has blatantly neglected.
An important presidential initiative
Paweł Szefernaker assessed that the president’s initiative differed significantly from the actions of those in power:
“The Health Summit ‘Saving Healthcare’, organised by President Karol Nawrocki, brought together leaders of medical and patient communities. It differed from the government ‘summit’ in almost every respect yesterday we witnessed a festival of self-satisfaction and speeches by officials led by the prime minister. Today it was the head of state who listened to experts who, for three hours, presented the most pressing problems of the healthcare system,” he noted.
He also highlighted the importance of the amendment to the Medical Fund Act, signed by the president:
“By approving the amendment to the Medical Fund Act, he is saving, as much as he can, the situation of patients who would be left without treatment without these funds. Dozens of hospitals have already reduced their activity, and without this signature there would be hundreds,” he stressed.
Szefernaker pointed clearly to who is responsible for the deepening crisis in Poland’s healthcare system:
“It is the government, with D. Tusk at the helm, that is responsible for securing money for treatment. The government has failed to fulfil this task before the eyes of all of Poland,” he assessed.
