UEFA has unveiled the 19 referees chosen to officiate at the final tournament of the European Championship in Germany. Among them is Szymon Marciniak from Poland, recognized as one of the most esteemed referees in the game.
The Esteemed Arbitrator
Szymon Marciniak, hailing from Płock, has been appointed as one of the main referees for the Euro 2024 tournament. With a track record including officiating at the 2016 European Championship and the last two FIFA World Cups, Marciniak has earned a reputation for his skill and fairness on the field.
Marciniak’s recent high-profile assignments include officiating the final match of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar between Argentina and France. Additionally, he oversaw the UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan in June 2023, as well as the Club World Cup final later that year.
The Euro 2024 Refereeing Team
Joining Marciniak are 18 other referees from across Europe, along with Facundo Tello from Argentina, selected through collaboration with the South American Football Confederation. Marciniak will be supported by assistant referees Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik, with Tomasz Kwiatkowski and Bartosz Frankowski serving as VAR referees.
