“Maybe Donald Tusk will finally say it outright – that this whole circus he stirred up around my post is simply about hatred of the United States?” suggested Tomasz Sakiewicz to the government spokesperson. Adam Szłapka once again did not spare attacks on TV Republika and the station’s president, Tomasz Sakiewicz, at the same time suggesting that supporting the U.S. amounts to Targowica – an act of treason.
It has become a tradition for government spokesperson Adam Szłapka to take aim at TV Republika during press conferences. Today he once again accused the station of lying, referring to one of the on-screen banners aired by the channel.
After the statement that he “does not intend to harass anyone anymore,” he did not change the subject. This time he moved on to a high-profile post by the station’s president, Tomasz Sakiewicz.
“The level of embarrassment here is impossible to describe. Some of the comments said that this is Targowica Confederation – I agree with those comments,” Szłapka blurted out.
“Today I learned from Minister Szłapka that suspicion of cooperation with the U.S. means Targowica, that is, cooperation with Poland’s worst enemy. Maybe Donald Tusk will finally say it outright – that this whole circus he stirred up around my post is simply about hatred of the United States.”

His suggestion to the head of government referred to a short post on X from Saturday. In connection with an operation by the U.S. military and the capture of Nicolas Maduro, Sakiewicz wrote: “Assad, Maduro… Tusk?” The post was seen on X by nearly three million users, and the comments descended into hysteria. A heated debate erupted, involving, among others, the leaders of the largest parties - Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the leader of Law and Justice (PiS), Jarosław Kaczyński.
