    Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Behind us is the 9th edition of the “BiegamBoLubię LASY” race (English: ‘I run because I like FORESTS”), which took place in the Chojnów Forest District. The event was organized by the Education through Sport Foundation in cooperation with the Information Center of the State Forests. The goal of the event is to popularize running, a healthy lifestyle, encourage sports activities in nature, and promote forest areas.

On July 16, the ninth event from the BiegamBoLubię LASY series took place at the Zimne Doły sports and recreation complex in the Chojnów Forest District. The participant limit was set at 500 runners, and it was reached two weeks after the registration opened. Runners could choose between two distances: 5 and 10 kilometers, while walkers in the ChodzęBoLubię hike had a 5-kilometer route to conquer. There were also races for children called “SportGeneracja,” where 100 young athletes participated in the various running events. The race route was marked with signs, tape, and secured for safety. Each race had electronic timing, both net and gross, using a chip system to ensure accurate results.

On-site, the “Super Zakrętaki” initiative was organized, and they actively participated by collecting plastic bottle caps for the Hospice. Nearly 12,000 PLN was raised for the Łódź Hospice for Children in Łupków.

The event began with the “SportGeneracja” children’s race. Four races took place in separate age categories. During registration, children received individual race numbers, and after the race, they were awarded commemorative medals and educational gadgets. The children cheerfully supported their loved ones after completing their own race.

“BiegamBoLubię LASY” provides an opportunity for children and parents to spend active time together, participate in games, and receive education under the watchful eye of foresters. A culinary highlight of the event was a forest version of grochówka, a traditional Polish pea soup, prepared by the Chojnów Forest District. It tasted delicious even at 32 degrees Celsius in the shade. The grand family picnic lasted until late evening.

The winners were awarded unique wooden statuettes that reflected the nature of the event.

The ninth edition of “BiegamBoLubię LASY” was a tremendous success, bringing together running enthusiasts, families, and nature lovers. It not only promoted a healthy lifestyle but also raised funds for a charitable cause. The event showcased the beauty of the Chojnów Forest and provided an opportunity for everyone to enjoy outdoor activities in a picturesque natural setting. The combination of sports, education, and family fun made it a memorable experience for all participants. We look forward to the next edition of “BiegamBoLubię LASY” and the positive impact it will have on promoting running, a healthy lifestyle, and the appreciation of forest areas.
