“The approach of coalition politicians to this matter is appalling.” Bosak appeals to the government over the harassment of Republika journalists

The Ministry of the Interior and Administration should immediately publicly inform about the scope of this campaign of false reports and provocations, issue warnings to all state services, apologize to the victims and provide them with explanations, while the Police should identify the perpetrators and urgently detain them — assessed Krzysztof Bosak, leader of Confederation Liberty and Independence. The politician commented in this way on the coordinated operation targeting journalists of TV Republika.

For several days, journalists of TV Republika have been the target of a series of false reports directed to emergency services. Police have been appearing at their homes following information concerning alleged suicide attempts, the discovery of bodies, or the planting of explosive devices. Today, officers also entered the home of Tomasz Sakiewicz, where the editorial office is also located, and his assistant was handcuffed.

Krzysztof Bosak, leader of Confederation Liberty and Independence, addressed the matter in a post published on X.

“For three days, a coordinated campaign of harassment against journalists and people connected with TV Republika has been underway. The authors of this operation are making false reports of various threats, which then result in interventions by state services at the homes of journalists and at the editorial office,” he assessed.

He added that “today’s intrusion by the Police into the apartment of editor Tomasz Sakiewicz and the unjustified handcuffing of his assistant is a scandal that must be explained, just like all the earlier and less publicized interventions against other journalists or employees.”

“The manner in which these reports are being made indicates a good knowledge of the addresses and biographies of the harassed individuals. This whole series of incidents and reports bears the hallmarks of a coordinated campaign of intimidation against an opposition media outlet. Therefore, questions must be asked as to who is carrying out this operation and whether the appropriate services are already working to track these people down?” he asked.

Krzysztof Bosak also pointed out that the approach of politicians from the “December 13 coalition” to this matter is appalling.

“Mocking, dismissing, or at best remaining silent about an attack on the largest news television station are not proper behaviors in a mature democracy. If we want a properly functioning state, then the entire political class must react with unified condemnation of provocations and harassment directed against every media outlet and every environment!” he stated.

In his opinion, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, headed by Marcin Kierwiński, “should immediately publicly inform about the scope of this campaign of false reports and provocations, issue warnings to all state services, apologize to the victims and provide them with explanations, while the Police should identify the perpetrators and urgently detain them.”

“This is a matter not only of the security of one editorial office, but also of the seriousness and credibility of our entire state!” he concluded.
