“I believe that free speech in Europe has come to an end, and regulated speech has begun. We have officials and bureaucrats in the European Commission (EC) who use regulations to censor statements they dislike,” said European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Presidium member Stephen Nikola Bartulica on TV Republika.
The 6th edition of the Make Europe Great Again conference took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on the second weekend of September. The host of the event was Croatian MEP and member of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Presidium Stephen Nikola Bartulica.
The politician gave an interview to TV Republika. In a conversation with Michał Rachoń, he emphasized the importance of free speech and the actions taken by Eurocrats to suppress it.
“In Europe, we have a serious problem with free speech. The left has stopped believing in freedom of speech. Today, more and more so-called ‘liberals’ support censorship,” said Bartulica.
“Freedom of speech is under attack. I believe that in Europe, free speech has ended, and regulated speech has begun. We have officials and bureaucrats in the European Commission (EC) who use regulations to censor statements they don’t like,” the politician noted.
He pointed out that what the other side of the political spectrum calls ‘hate speech’ is, in fact, speech that those in power simply dislike.
“In the United States, voices justifying political violence are beginning to emerge among the Democrats. What happened to Charlie Kirk is openly celebrated by parts of the left. Instead of condemnation, we see joy. Some commentators even go so far as to say that ‘Charlie Kirk deserved it’ because he was an ally of Donald Trump and a conservative. This is madness,” Bartulica stressed.
